    Summary

    Aside from serving as the Director of the Auto Industry Division of the Colorado Department of Revenue, Mr. Sexton also served as the Executive Secretary of the Motor Vehicle Dealer Licensing Board where, among other duties, he was responsible for licensing in the Auto Industry Division.

    With a background of over 30-years experience in law enforcement, MR. SEXTONwas also responsible for licensing, regulatory enforcement and criminal investigations of all licensed motor vehicle dealers in the Auto Industry Division.

    In his capacity as Chief Investigator for the State Attorney General, Mr. Sexton investigated and seized automobiles and a dealership that were used for tax fraud and other criminal violations of the Colorado Organized Crime Control Act.

    Both as a member of the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and as a Director of the Auto Industry Division, Colorado Department of Revenue, Mr. Sexton conducted and completed out of trust investigations.

    When fraudulent activity is suspected, among other things, Mr. Sexton:

  • Reviews areas of concern to determine a reasonable course of action.
  • Conducts a preliminary investigation into any suspected illegal activity to help determine a course of action.
  • Reviews dealership activity for areas susceptible to fraud and recommend security measures to ensure the proper checks and balances are in place.
  • Review dealership records of purchases or sales for any inflation or misrepresentations.
  • Offers anonymity to our sources and rewards for information that results in exposing fraud or misrepresentations or any activity counterproductive to the operation of the dealership or lending institutions.
  • Conducts background investigations on key employees and managers.
  • Help detect improper activity concerning vehicle trades and sales.

    Specialties

    In additon to analyzing licensing and other governmental issues, Mr. Sexton investigates fraud, embezzlement and “out of trust” issues, and recommends protective and countermeasures.

    Mr. Sexton has testified in the Colorado District Court as an expert in tracing assets and proceeds in racketeering investigations and as an expert in the automobile dealership field. Mr. Sexton has also served on Federal, State and District Grand Jury Investigations.
